The nature of temporary work is that it tends to be immediate. To those that are between jobs, a temporary contract gives continuity and protects cash flow. Contracts can be infinitely variable and may be for a day, a week, a month or open ended. It is not unusual for an employer to use this route as a means of assessing a persons performance with a view to a permanent position.
